Women’s soccer team ties Albion, 2-2
The Olivet College women’s soccer team played to a 2-2 double overtime draw against Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) rival Albion College today at Alumni Field in Albion. Sophomore Cori Barrera (East Lansing) scored both Comet goals.

The Olivet College women's soccer team played to a 2-2 double overtime draw against Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) rival Albion College today at Alumni Field in Albion. Sophomore Cori Barrera (East Lansing) scored both Comet goals.
Albion (8-3-1, 1-1-1 MIAA) led 1-0 at halftime behind a goal in the 39th minute. Olivet (3-5-1, 1-0-1 MIAA) answered 7:58 into the second half when Barrera scored her first goal. Junior Shannah Fisher (Delton/Delton-Kellogg) was credited with an assist.
The Britons took a 2-1 lead in the 57th minute. The Comets tied the game at the 62:26 mark. Barrera took a pass from freshman Ashley Barron (Montrose/Hill-McCloy) and tapped the ball into the goal.
For the game, the Britons had a 13-7 advantage in shots. Barrera had three shots for Olivet, while Fisher and sophomore Megan Reardon (Macomb/Chippewa Valley) had two a piece. In goal, sophomore Kellie O'Dowd (Jackson) made three saves for Olivet.
The Comets are back in action Tuesday, Oct. 3, when they travel to play Kalamazoo College at 4 p.m.
