Johnson fails to make finals at 2009 NCAA D3 National Swim/Dive Championships
Senior Amy Johnson failed to make the finals in her three events at the 2009 NCAA Division III National Swimming and Diving Championships.
With an eighth-place finish, Olivet College's Kellen Beckwith (Farmington Hills/North Farmington) has earned All-American honors in the 100 backstroke tonight at the 2009 NCAA Division III National Swimming and Diving Championships. Macalester College is hosting the event at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center. With his finish, Beckwith is the first male swimmer in school history to earn All-American honors.
Beckwith clocked-in at 51.10 seconds in tonight's finals. During the morning preliminaries, he lowered his school record with a time of 50.20 seconds. Despite not qualifying for the finals of the 200 backstroke, Beckwith broke the school record by 1.03 seconds with a time of 1:52.61.
Also for Olivet, senior Amy Johnson (Gaylord) failed to make the finals in her three events. In the 50 freestyle, she false started and was disqualified in Wednesday's preliminaries. In the 200 freestyle, Johnson had a time of 1:57.90, and in the 100 freestyle, she touched the wall in 52.36 seconds.
