Women's swimming and diving team defeats Saint Mary's, 161-139
Led by senior Amy Johnson’s (Gaylord) three first-place finishes, the Olivet College women’s swimming and diving team defeated Saint Mary’s (Ind.) College, 161-139, this afternoon at the Rolfs Aquatic Center in Notre Dame, Indiana.

Johnson took first-place in 50 freestyle (:24.64), 100 freestyle (:52.63) and 200 freestyle (2:00.02). Her time in the 100 broke the school record as well as was a NCAA championships "B" cut.
Olivet also had three other individual first-place finishes and both relays finished in first. Junior Jackie Taylor (Plainwell) was first in the 200 backstroke (2:17.39). Freshman Megan Waschak (Battle Creek/Central) won both diving competitions, scoring 237.60 points on the one-meter and 209.92 points on the three-meter.
The first-place 200 medley relay team consisted of Taylor, senior Erin Tramper (Jenison), freshman Caitlin Lohr (Holland/Hamilton) and freshman Emily LaPorta (Hamilton), and their time was 1:51.41. Lohr, Taylor, LaPorta and senior Kalee Redder (Grandville/Jenison) was the quartet of the winning 200 freestyle relay, and its time was 1:40.85.
The Comets are now idle until Thursday-Saturday, Feb. 19-21, when they return to Rolfs to compete at the 2009 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association championships.
