The Olivet College men's soccer team fell to Davenport University, 3-1, today at DU Field in Grand Rapids.
Davenport took a 1-0 lead with a goal in the ninth minute. The Panthers added to their lead in the 28th minute on an unassisted goal. The Comets made the score 2-1 when freshman Jacob Jensen (Vicksburg) scored off a long throw-in by junior Mike May (Mason). The score remained 2-1 at halftime. Davenport closed the scoring in the 78th minute.
"We competed pretty well earning some corner kicks," said Head Coach Chad Wiseman. "It was a good test for us. Davenport was definitely the better team today. I hope we can learn from this and push the level in training to prepare for next week's contests."
Olivet is back in action next Friday, Sept. 11, when it travels to Midland to play Northwood University at 4 p.m.
