Cross country teams start season at Andrea’s Classic
The Olivet College men’s and women’s cross country teams opened their 2013 season by running at the Andrea’s Classic, hosted by Calvin College.
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Olivet College men's and women's cross country teams opened their 2013 season by running at the Andrea's Classic, hosted by Calvin College.
Turning in the women's best performance was junior Brittany Hayes (Battle Creek/Lakeview), who completed the 5K course in 22:13. Also running for the Comets were junior Susie Quint (Lake Odessa/Lakewood) and freshmen Raelynn Rasegan (Webberville/Williamston) and Jacklyn Yates (Fowlerville/Hesperia).
The men were led by junior Greg Lutzke (Williamston), who placed 14th of 34 runners. He covered the 4-mile course in 21:31. Other runners for the men were juniors Andrew Benkovsky (Eaton Rapids) and Jalen Weaver (Albion), and freshman Blake Wilson (Battle Creek/Lakeview).
Olivet is now off until Friday, Sept. 13, when it competes at the Spartan Invitational. The women's 6K race starts at noon, followed by the men's 8K race at 12:35 p.m.
