Women's cross country team ends season at NCAA Regional
The women's cross country team ended its season by by running today at the NCAA Division III Great Lakes Regional, hosted by Hope at the West Ottawa Golf Club in Holland.
HOLLAND, Mich. -- The Olivet College women's cross country team ended its season by by running today at the NCAA Division III Great Lakes Regional, which was hosted by Hope College at the West Ottawa Golf Club in Holland.
The Olivet women were led by freshman Anna Krausz (Lyons/Portland), who finished the 6K race in 25:57.3. Following her was junior Brittany Marshall (Canton, Ga./Woodstock) in 26:34.3 and sophomore Abbey Leightner (Jackson/Western) in a personal-best time of 27:30.3. Junior Katie Yahrmarkt (Sparta) also set a season-best time, finishing in 28:25.9.
"I am pleased with how we continued to make progress each meet this season," said Olivet Head Women's Coach Karen Lutzke. "We were getting better at each competition. This season was a step forward in the program because we had enough runners to qualify for a team score and we look to be more competitive next year. Anna and Brittany did a great job leading us this year. Abbey has been getting stronger each and learning what cross country is all about. Those three are going to be even better next year."
Sophomore Brock Hubbard (Battle Creek/Harper Creek) paced the Comet men, as he covered the 8K course in 30:37.9. Junior Alex Johnson (Atlantic Mine/Houghton) was next in 31:14.3, followed by senior Serafin Llerena (Bangor) in 32:01.6.
