Thompson named MIAA Volleyball Player of the Week

FREELAND, Mich. – Olivet College junior Re'Gene Thompson has been the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Player Hitter of the Week.

Thompson totaled 71 kills in four matches in leading Olivet to a 4-0 record against Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference opponents Sept. 4-5 at Adrian College's Merillat Sport & Fitness Center. She had only 15 errors on 135 attempts for a .415 hitting percentage. Thompson also recorded 13 total blocks, including seven solo.

"Re'Gene has worked hard over the last three years," said Head Coach Megan Merchant. "She has really developed into an impact player. We have high expectations for Re'Gene this year and expect her to be a leader going forward into conference play."

Thompson and the Comets open MIAA play Friday night when they host Albion College at 6:30 p.mm.
