Track and field teams participate in Al Owens Classic
The Olivet College men’s and women’s track & field teams participated in the 2016 Al Owens Classic, hosted by Grand Valley State University in Allendale. Several Olivet student-athletes recorded personal-best performances.

ALLENDALE, Mich. – The Olivet College men's and women's track & field teams participated in the 2016 Al Owens Classic, hosted by Grand Valley State University in Allendale. Several Olivet student-athletes recorded personal-best performances.
WOMEN'S TEAM
- Freshman Morgan Emens crossed the finish in the 100-meter dash in a personal-best time of 14.24 seconds.
- In the 800-meter run, sophomore Isabelle Leon improved on her personal-best time by 10 full seconds at 2:28.67. Other posting life-time bests in the 800 were senior Lauren Easton, 2:42.46; and freshman Nicole Gilbert, 2:43.51.
- Junior Allyson Schultz and senior Danielle Marsh raced to career-best times of 5:04.28 and 5:34.88, respectively in the 1,500-meter run.
MEN'S TEAM
- Sophomore Bruce Baker ran the 1,500-meter run for the first time in his Comet career, and finished the race in 4:01.50. Also, senior Nicholas Roberge-Ferris posted a personal-best time of 4:14.40.
- Freshman Ethan Brabant tossed the discus for a career-best mark of 33.73m/110'8".
- Junior Patrick Donovan finished the 5,000-meter run at 16:41.77 for a life-time best performance.
- Sophomore Miguel Marin and freshman Nicholas Yeck set personal-bests in the 100-meter dash at 12.21 and 12.36 seconds, respectively.
- Freshman Jeffrey Terbeek completed the 110-meter hurdles in a life-time best at 16.42 seconds.
Olivet is now off until Thursday and Friday, May 5-6, when it hosts the 125th Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Field Day. Events start Thursday afternoon at 1 p.m., while Friday's events start at 10 a.m.
