Track and field teams participate in Aquinas Open

The Olivet College track and field teams participated in the Aquinas College Open Meet Saturday at Houseman Field in Grand Rapids. The meet was unscored.

For the men, Tim Esper (New Hudson/Walled Lake North) and Justin Walters (Clarksville/Lakewood) were third (1.85m/6'Ύ") and fourth (1.80m/5'10Ύ"), respectively in the high jump. Esper's clearance was a season-best, while Walters tied a season-best. On the track, James Williams (Battle Creek/Central) placed fourth in the 100-meter dash (:11.25).

For the women, Olivia Yarrell (Lansing/Sexton) won her heat in the 100-meter dash and finished fourth overall with a season-best time of :12.91 seconds. Also finishing fourth was Heather Nicklaw (Springport) in the high jump (season-best 1.55m/5'1"). Amanda Huggett (Battle Creek/Harper Creek) posted a season-best throw in the discus (24.03m/78'10").

The Comets will return to action Friday at the 24th Annual University of Toledo (Ohio) Invitational. Action is slated to begin at 11 a.m.
