Caldwell's school record in 400-meter dash leads women's track and field team at 2009 MIAA Field Day
Sophomore Sarah Caldwell (Bronson) broke the school record in the 400-meter dash to lead the Olivet College women's track and field team at the 2009 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Field Day, which was held at Albion College’s Elkin Isaac Track.
Freshman David Ray (Lansing/Eastern) won the 110-meter high hurdles today to lead the Olivet College track and field teams at the 2009 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Field Day, which was held at Albion College's Elkin Isaac Track.
Ray completed the race in 15.47 seconds to beat the runner-up finisher by .59 seconds. He is the first individual event champion in school history in 25 years, with the last champion being in 1984 when Stan Baker won the 100-meter dash and Anthony Stephens won the 400-meter dash. In addition, Ray took second-place today in the 400-meter hurdles. His time was 55.1 seconds.
Freshman Mike Martin (Caledonia/Wayland Union) finished in fourth-place in the 100-meter dash (11.23) and fifth-place in the 200-meter dash (22.44). Freshman Jesse Holmes (Springport) brought home a fourth-place finish in the 400-meter dash (50.95).
For the women, sophomore Sarah Caldwell (Bronson) was second in the 400-meter dash. Her time of 58.92 broke her own school record.
