NILES, Mich. – The Olivet College women's tennis team won a pair of matches today at the Lakeland Athletic Club in Niles. The Comets blanked Calumet College-St. Joseph (Ind.), 9-0, and then defeated Judson (Ill.) University, 8-1.
Against Calumet, the Comets lost only 14 total games. In doubles, the No. 1 duo of Caitlin LaValley (Battle Creek/ Pennfield) and Kelsey Singer (Brooklyn/Columbia Central) won 8-2 and the No. 2 duo of Jenna Baker (Battle Creek/ Harper Creek) and Giana Guerra (Lansing/Waverly) won 8-1.

Guerra and Singer posted identical 6-1, 6-0 wins at No. 2 and No. 3, respectively. At No. 5, freshman Hope Burnham (Kalamazoo/K-Christian) needed a tiebreaker to win the first set, 7-6 and then won the match with a 6-3 victory in the second set.
