The Olivet College women’s tennis team came up just short against Indiana Tech, 5-4, today at Wildwood Racquet Club in Fort Wayne.
The Olivet College women's tennis team came up just short against Indiana Tech, 5-4, today at Wildwood Racquet Club in Fort Wayne.
The Comets' only win in doubles came at the No. 1 flight where freshman Giana Guerra (Lansing/Waverly) and senior Jaclyn Mummaw (Buchanan) posted an 8-4 pro-set victory. In singles, Guerra won in straight sets (6-2, 6-3) at the No. 2 flight. Junior Celeste Gruber (South Haven) won by identical scores at the No. 3 singles position. At No. 5 singles, sophomore Leanne Scudder (St. Joseph/Lakeshore) lost her first set, 7-5, but came back to win the second and third sets, 6-1 and 7-6 (1), respectively.
Olivet will now turn its focus to Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association play. The Comets will travel to play Albion College Tuesday at 4 p.m.
