In singles play, freshman Giana Guerra (Lansing/Waverly) won in straight sets, 6-4 and 7-5 at the No. 2 flight. After losing the first set, 6-2, junior Celeste Gruber (South Haven) rallied to win the second and third sets, 6-0 and 6-3, respectively, to gain the win at No. 3 singles. In doubles, the No. 1 duo of Guerra and senior Jaclyn Mummaw (Buchanan) posted an 8-5 pro-set victory.
The Comets return to the courts on Friday when they travel to play Calumet College of St. Joseph (Ind.). The match from inside the South Shore Racquet Club in St. Joseph will get under way at 4 p.m.
