Women’s tennis team defeats Adrian, 5-4
The Olivet College women’s tennis team defeated Adrian College, 5-4, in a thrilling Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association match today at the Michigan State University Tennis Facility in East Lansing. With the win, the Comets snap a four-match losing streak.

The outcome of the match came down to the No. 3 singles flight, where junior Celeste Gruber (South Haven) came-from-behind to win in three sets. After losing the first set, 6-4, she rallied to win the next two sets, 6-4 and 7-5.
Also winning singles play was senior Jaclyn Mummaw (Buchanan) and freshman Giana Guerra (Lansing/Waverly). Mummaw posted an easy 6-1, 6-0 straight-set victory in the No. 1 flight, while Guerra recorded a 6-2, 6-4 win in the No. 2 flight.
Mummaw and Guerra teamed for an 8-2 pro-set victory at No. 1 doubles. The No. 2 doubles duo of Gruber and freshman Kelsey Singer (Brooklyn/Columbia Central) also posted an 8-2 pro-set win.
Olivet returns to the courts Saturday when it travels to play Trine (Ind.) University at 1 p.m.
