Vilums earns second-team All-MIAA honors

Olivet College senior Rachel Vilums (Hudsonville) has been named to the 2007 All-Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) second-team in women's tennis. Vilums becomes a three-time All-MIAA player, as she also earned second-team honors in 2005 and 2006.

This season, Vilums posted a 13-7 record for the Comets at the No. 1 singles position. In doubles play, she and senior Mallory Bailey (Kalamazoo/Loy Norrix) compiled a 13-7 record, including an 11-7 mark in the No. 1 flight. Vilums ended her four-year career at Olivet with a 43-28 record in singles play and 40-32 mark in doubles play.

Vilums and the Comets finished the 2007 season with a 10-10 record. The 10 wins are a single-season school record.
