Women’s tennis team finishes in sixth-place at 2007 MIAA Championships
The Olivet College women’s tennis team fell to Saint Mary’s (Ind.) College, 7-2, to finish in sixth-place at the 2007 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Championships, which was hosted by Kalamazoo College. The Comets end their season with a 10-10 record, and the 10 wins are a single-season school-record.

At the conclusion of the championships, senior Rachel Vilums (Hudsonville) was recognized for earning 2007 second-team All-MIAA honors.
Against Saint Mary's, Olivet received one team point in doubles and one team point in singles play. In doubles, the No. 1 team of Vilums and Mallory Bailey (Kalamazoo/Loy Norrix) posted an 8-3 pro-set victory. In singles, Jaclyn Mummaw (Buchanan) won when her opponent was forced to retire because of an injury.
Vilums earns second-team All-MIAA honors for the third straight season. She finishes the 2007 season with a 13-7 record in singles. Joining with Bailey, Vilums recorded a 13-7 mark in doubles play. She ends a stellar four-year career at Olivet with a 43-28 record in singles play and 40-32 mark in doubles.
