Women's tennis team defeats Adrian, 8-1
The Olivet College women's tennis team snapped a five-match losing streak with an 8-1 win over Adrian College today at the Michigan State University Indoor Tennis Facility in East Lansing.
The Olivet College women's tennis team snapped a five-match losing streak with an 8-1 win over Adrian College today at the Michigan State University Indoor Tennis Facility in East Lansing.
Playing with only five student-athletes, Adrian was forced to forfeit the No. 6 singles and No. 3 doubles matches. Earning the forfeit wins for Olivet (3-6, 1-3 MIAA) were freshman Kristina Mellinger (Constantine) at No. 6 singles, and the No. 3 doubles team of juniors Jaime Morrison (Marshall) and Lindsey Struble (Battle Creek/Harper Creek).
Also winning in singles play was freshman Jaclyn Mummaw (Buchanan) at No. 2, junior Corey Jager (Kalamazoo/Loy Norrix) at No. 3, Morrison at No. 4 and Struble at No. 5. The other winning doubles tandems were Mummaw and junior Rachel Vilums (Hudsonville) at No. 1 and Jager/Mellinger at No. 2.
The Comets will next be in action Tuesday, April 4, when they host Hope College at 4 p.m.
