Women’s tennis team defeats Adrian, 7-2
The Olivet College women’s tennis team defeated Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association foe Adrian College, 7-2, this afternoon at the Tecumseh High School Tennis Courts. The Lady Comets (6-8, 2-4 MIAA) won five of six singles flights and two of three doubles flights.

In singles, #1 player Rachel Vilums (Hudsonville High School), #2 player Mallory Bailey (Kalamazoo/Loy Norrix High School), #4 player Lindsey Struble (Battle Creek/Harper Creek High School), #5 player Venera Kurteshi (Taylor Truman High School) and #6 player Mehgan Bildner (Grosse Ile High School) all won in straight sets, losing only 19 games combined.
In doubles, #1 tandem of Bailey and Vilums lost the first set 4-6, but rallied to win the second and third sets 6-4, 6-3, respectively. The #2 tandem of Struble and Stephanie Reed (Holt High School) captured a 6-1, 6-3 victory.
The Lady Comets are next in action this Saturday, April 17, when they host Saint Mary's (Ind.) College in their 2004 regular season finale at the Michigan State University Indoor Tennis Facility in East Lansing. Action starts at 4 p.m. The MIAA Tournament is next Friday-Saturday, April 23-24, at Albion College.
