The Olivet College women’s tennis team fell to non-league foe Aquinas College, 9-0, this afternoon at the Champion Sports & Fitness Center in Rockford.
The Olivet College women's tennis team fell to non-league foe Aquinas College, 9-0, this afternoon at the Champion Sports & Fitness Center in Rockford.
"The match was closer than the score indicates," said Head Coach Mary Anne McMullen. "It was a very hard battle against a very good team, and the ladies played extremely hard."
Freshman #1 player Rachel Vilums (Hudsonville High School) had the closest singles match. She won the first set, 6-4, before losing the second set, 6-3, and a third-set tiebreaker, 10-6. Vilums and Mallory Bailey (Kalamazoo/Loy Norrix High School) at #1 doubles and Stephanie Reed (Holt High School) and Lindsey Struble (Battle Creek/Harper Creek High School) at #2 doubles played hard, losing an 8-6 pro-set.
The Lady Comets are next in action on Wednesday, April 24, when they resume Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association play at Adrian College at 3 p.m.
