Women's tennis team falls to Univ. of Chicago (Ill.), 6-3, in season opener
The Olivet College women’s tennis team opened its 2004 season today with a 6-3 loss against University of Chicago (Ill.) at the Michigan State University Indoor Tennis Facility in East Lansing.

After dropping the first set, 7-5, freshman #4 singles player Corey Jager (Kalamazoo/Loy Norrix High School) rallied to win the second set, 6-3, and won the match with a third set tiebreaker, 10-3. In addition, freshman #6 singles player Vanera Kurteshi (Taylor Truman High School) beat her opponent in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3.
The #2 doubles tandem of sophomore Stephanie Reed (Holt High School) and freshman Lindsay Struble (Battle Creek/Harper Creek High School) captured an 8-3 pro-set victory.
The Lady Comets are idle until they play four matches in Hilton Head, S.C. during their Spring Break trip. Their first match is Tuesday, March 2, against Savannah College of Art & Design (Ga.) at 6 p.m.
