Lohr leads women’s swimming team at first day of triple dual meet
Olivet College senior Caitlin Lohr led the Comet women’s swimming team in the first day of competition at a triple dual meet, hosted by Olivet at Lakeview High School in Battle Creek.
BATTLE CREEK, Mich. – Olivet College senior Caitlin Lohr (Holland/Hamilton) led the Comet women's swimming team in the first day of competition at a triple dual meet, hosted by Olivet at Lakeview High School in Battle Creek.
After nine events, the Comets trail Hope College, 108-50; Carthage (Wis.) College, 106-42; and Albion College, 91-66. Ten more events will take place tomorrow, beginning at 11 a.m.
Lohr was Olivet's only individual event winner, as she took first-place in the 100 freestyle with a time of 53.82 seconds. Lohr also led off the 200 freestyle relay with a pool record split time of 24.14 seconds. Overall, she and sophomore Jana Blodgett (Sturgis), freshman Jazmin Johnson (Grand Rapids/ Northview) and sophomore Kristin Long (Pemberville, Ohio/Notre Dame Academy) placed second. Their time, 1:41.71, was just one-half second behind first-place Carthage.
Johnson finished in third-place in the 100 freestyle, stopping the clock at 54.92 seconds. Freshman Kaitlin Smith (Port Huron) was fourth in both the 200 individual medley (2:19.78) and 200 backstroke (2:20.90). Senior Jessica Howard (Fort Wayne, Ind./Homestead) placed fifth in the 500 freestyle (5:30.53).
