Women's swimming and diving team sneaks past Alma, 108-105
The women’s swimming team snuck past Alma College, 108-104, today at the McClure Natatorium in Alma.
ALMA, Mich. -- The Olivet College women's swimming team snuck past Alma College, 108-104, today at the McClure Natatorium in Alma. The Comets had two swimmers win two individual events each and swim on a winning relay.
Caitlin Lohr (Holland/Hamilton) took first-place in the 50 freestyle in 24.96 seconds and the 100 freestyle in 57.48 seconds. Crystal Jager (Dorr/Hamilton) posted the fastest times in the 100 butterfly (1:03.07) and 100 breaststroke (1:09.43). They joined with Jacalyn Cordero (Holland) and Camieo Green (Battle Creek/Harper Creek) for a first-place finish in the 200 medley relay (1:55.13).
Jessica Howard (Fort Wayne, Ind./Homestead) was first in the distance freestyle events. She timed in at 11:29.04 in the 1,000 and 5:40.03 in the 500. Other individual event winners included Alivia Hammond (Byron Center) in the 100 backstroke (1:03.83), Kristin Long (Pemberville, Ohio/Notre Dame Academy) in the 400 individual medley (5:02.11) and Ally Ramer (Holt) in the 200 freestyle (2:04.71). The 200 freestyle relay team of Jana Blodgett (Sturgis), Emily LaPorta (Hamilton), Green and Ramer posted the fastest time at 1:46.09.
The Comets will return to action next Saturday, Jan. 29, at Kalamazoo College at 1 p.m.
