Women's swimming and diving team moves up one spot to fourth-place at 2007 MIAA Championships
The Olivet College women’s swimming and diving team moved up one spot and now stands in fourth-place at the 2007 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Championships. The Comets have 166.5 points and trail Kalamazoo College by 30.5 points. Defending champion Calvin College is first with 454.5 points.

Olivet's highest finisher tonight was Jackie Taylor (Plainwell), who placed fifth in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:01.03. The Comets had a pair of sixth-place finishers in Heather Michalsen (Plymouth/Salem) and Carrie Schroeder (Marshall). Michalsen was sixth in the 400-yard individual medley (4:57.39). Schroeder was sixth in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:10.16).
Ashley Oliver (Ironwood) swam in the consolation finals of the 100 back and was ninth overall (1:02.42). In the consolation finals of the 100 breast, Erin Tramper (Jenison) was ninth (1:11.70), while Lauren Siedlik (Livonia/Churchill) was 12th (1:13.43).
Laura Herzog (St. Joseph) captured first-place in the consolation finals of the 200-yard freestyle with a school-record time of 1:58.56. Michalsen finished in 12th place in the 100-yard butterfly (1:02.91).
The 800-yard freestyle relay team of Herzog, Amy Johnson (Gaylord), Kalee Redder (Grandville/Jenison) and Kelly Schulze (Kalamazoo/Central) touched the wall third in a school-record time of 7:59.11. Johnson, Reddder, Schroeder and Taylor placed fourth in the 200-yard medley relay (1:51.81).
The final day of competition at the Jenison High School Aquatic Center tomorrow begins with prelims at 10 a.m., followed by finals at 6 p.m.
