Women’s swimming and diving team in fourth-place at 2006 MIAA Championships
The Olivet College women’s swimming and diving team is in fourth-place at the conclusion of day one at the 2006 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Championships at Jenison High School. The Comets have 99 points, while Calvin College leads the way with 206 points.

Amy Johnson (Gaylord), Jill Lingbeek (Plainwell), Kalee Redder (Grandville/Jenison) and Carrie Schroeder (Marshall) broke the school record with a fourth-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:39.25).
In the 500-yard freestyle, junior Laura Herzog (St. Joseph) was eighth at 5:22.92 and sophomore Sarah Boyd (Napoleon, Ohio) placed ninth at 5:23.80. Junior Katherine Roesch (Oakland Twp./Lake Orion) clocked-in at 2:17.72 in the 200-yard individual medley to place sixth. Freshman Erin Tramper (Jenison) recorded an 11th-place finish in the 200 IM (2:20.00).
Entering the finals of 50-yard freestyle, Johnson was seeded fifth. In the finals, she shaved almost 1/2 second off her prelim time to finish in third-place with a time of 24.50 seconds.
The 400-yard medley relay team of Lingbeek, Redder, Roesch and Tramper was second and broke the school record by five seconds at 4:01.59. Their time was just .18 seconds faster than third-place Hope College.
Action resumes tomorrow and Saturday with prelims each morning at 10 a.m., and finals each night at 6 p.m.
