Women's swimming and diving in fifth-place after Day 1 of 2005 MIAA Championships
The women’s swimming and diving is in fifth place after the first day of competition at the 2005 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Championships hosted by Hope College at the Holland Community Aquatic Center.
The women’s swimming and diving is in fifth place after the first day of competition at the 2005 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Championships hosted by Hope College at the Holland Community Aquatic Center. The Lady Comets have 65 points are only 13 points behind fourth-place Albion College.
Sophomore Katherine Roesch (Oakland Twp./Lake Orion) was Olivet’s highest finisher as she placed fifth in the 500 freestyle with a school-record time of 5:17.30. During the prelims, she had a time of 5:17.30.
The 200 freestyle relay team of Caitlin Cornell (Corunna), Laura Herzog (St. Joseph), Jill Lingbeek (Plainwell) and Janet Stam (Holland) was fourth (1:42.88). Herzog, Lingbeek, Roesch and Katie Kilmartin (Wayland) set a school record in the 400 medley relay with a third-place time of 4:06.59.
Action continues tomorrow morning with prelims in seven events at 10 a.m. and finals in those events start at 6 p.m.
