Women's swimming and diving finishes in fourth-place at MIAA Championships
The Olivet College women’s swimming and diving team finished in fourth-place at the 2004 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Championships held at the East Grand Rapids High School Pool. The Lady Comets tallied 250 points and broke school records in every event today except one.

Hope College won the championship with 587 points, followed by Calvin College with 422 and Kalamazoo with 318.
Leading the way for Olivet was Katherine Roesch (Oakland Twp./Lake Orion High School), who was second in the 200 backstroke. She missed breaking the school record by .02 seconds. Roesch also swam a leg of the 400 freestyle relay (3:42.58). Laura Herzog (St. Joseph High School), Kristi Miller (Marshall High School) and Janet Stam (Holland High School) joined her on the relay.
In the first event of the night, 1650 freestyle, Herzog was seventh with a time of 18:48.64. Stam was 11th in the 100 free (55.31), followed by Miller (55.62). Jill Lingbeek (Plainwell High School) recorded a seventh-place finish in the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:18.38. After placing 11th in the prelims, Shannon McHugh (Manistique High School) climbed three spots in the finals in the 200 breaststroke (2:35.55). In the 200 back, Christina Coxon (Mason High School) and Jaymee Scott (Holt High School) placed tenth and 12th, respectively.
