Women’s soccer team shutout by Elmhurst, 3-0

ELMHURST, Ill. – The Olivet College women's soccer team was shutout by Elmhurst (Ill.) College, 3-0, today at Langhorst Field in Elmhurst, Illinois.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• After a scoreless first half, the Bluejays scored three goals in the second half. The first two goals were scored in a span of just over three minutes between the 52nd and 55th minutes. Elmhurst's third goal came with six and one-half minutes left in the game.

FOR THE COMETS

• Olivet was limited to seven shots in the game.
• Sophomore Emma Essen recorded a team-best three shots. Four other players each had one.
• Freshman Brooklyn Burel played all 90 minutes in goal and made five saves.

FOR THE BLUE JAYS

• Three different players scored a goal for Elmhurst.
• Kim Stanczak had one goal and one assist for a team-best three points. She also took a team-leading seven shots.
• Emily Gordon played in goal and collected four saves.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

• Today's game was the third time in school history Olivet and Elmhurst faced each other on the field for a women's soccer game, and each of the previous meetings were also played on September 3. The previous two meetings were a 2-1 Comet win during the 1999 season and a 7-1 Blue Jay victory in 2002.
