McGowan selected for the NSCAA 30 Under 30 Class of 2016-17

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Kimberly McGowan, head coach for the Olivet College women's soccer team, has been selected as a member of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) 30 Under 30 Class of 2016-2017. Fifteen men and 15 women were chosen among 350 coaches for the honor.

To be selected, individuals must show great promise in their coaching career. McGowan has done just that in the short time she has been with Olivet College, 18 months. In her first season coaching the Comets, McGowan pushed the team to win the fifth-most games in school history, 11, including eight MIAA wins, tying the record for the most conference wins in school history. "I'm so excited to be a part of the NSCAA 30 under 30 program," said McGowan. "It's a great opportunity to learn from other young coaches and mentors, and I'm so grateful for this upcoming experience."

"Kim has turned our women's soccer program around in short time period she has been here," said Olivet College Athletic Director Ryan Shockey. "The student-athletes have taken a great deal of pride with her at the helm. I am proud of Kim and it is great to see all of her hard work pay off. I am excited to see what the future holds for her and the women's soccer team."  

Launched in 2013, the NSCAA 30 Under 30 program is a year-long education and mentorship opportunity for a select few up-and-comers who have made soccer coaching their career of choice. The program was created to support fledgling coaches and foster their growth at a crucial point in their vocation. Membership of the class includes multiple benefits, such as the opportunity to take advantage of educational offerings and attend the NSCAA Convention.
