Murphy scores two goals in 2-1 win over Albion
Freshman Katie Murphy (Berkley) scored two goals to lead the Olivet College women’s soccer team to a 2-1 win over Albion College this afternoon in a MIAA contest at Alumni Field in Albion.

ALBION, Mich. – Freshman Katie Murphy (Berkley) scored two goals to lead the Olivet College women's soccer team to a 2-1 win over Albion College this afternoon in a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) contest at Alumni Field in Albion.
The Comets took a 1-0 lead at the 31:42 mark. Sophomore Lindsey Winters (Plymouth/Canton) served the ball in on a corner kick. Freshman Kaylee Liddle (Clarkston) then passed the ball to Murphy, who buried her shot into the net. The Britons tied the game just 98 seconds later. The score stayed 1-1 at halftime.
Olivet scored what proved to be the game-winning goal in the 65th minute. Freshman Olivia Gardner (Trenton) assisted on Murphy's goal.
For the game, the Comets out-shot Albion, 13-5, including a 7-3 advantage in shots-on-goal. Murphy had a team-leading three shots. Four other players had two shots apiece. Freshman Patty Groh (Mason) played all 90 minutes in goal and recorded just one save.
Olivet will return to the field Wednesday, Oct. 26, when it hosts Calvin College for Senior Day. Game time is 4 p.m.
