HOLLAND, Mich. – The Olivet College women's soccer team lost to Hope College, 6-1, tonight under the lights at VanAndel Soccer Stadium in Holland.
After a scoreless first half, the Flying Dutch got on the scoreboard at the 55:38 mark on an unassisted goal by Cara Johnson. Sophomore Marcee Lettinga (Grand Rapids/Forest Hills Central) scored the equalizer for the Comets in the 66th minute. Hope answered with the go-ahead goal in the 75th minute. The Dutch then put the game away with four goals in the final nine minutes and five seconds of the game.
Olivet peppered the net with six shots, with half coming from sophomore Lindsey Winters (Plymouth/Canton) and two from Lettinga. In goal, freshman Patty Groh (Mason) faced 26 shots and made five saves.
The Comets will host Kalamazoo College Saturday in the first game of women's/men's soccer doubleheader at the Cutler Athletic Complex. The women's game will start at noon, followed by the Olivet men versus Albion College at approximately 2:30 p.m.
