Gaarde scores winning goal in women’s soccer team’s 1-0 win over Albion
Junior Becca Gaarde scored the only goal with 35 seconds left, as the Olivet College women’s soccer team beat MIAA rival Albion College, 1-0, today at the Cutler Athletic Complex in Olivet.

OLIVET, Mich. – Junior Becca Gaarde (Parma/Western) scored the only goal with 35 seconds left, as the Olivet College women's soccer team beat Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association rival Albion College, 1-0, today at the Cutler Athletic Complex in Olivet.
The game between the Comets and Britons had indications of going to overtime until the closing seconds of the game. Gaarde served the ball into the box, where it bounced a couple times before going into the net at the far post. Freshman Olivia Gardner (Trenton) earned the assist on the goal.
Olivet doubled up Albion in shots, 12-6. Sophomore Lindsey Winters (Plymouth/Canton) topped the Comets with three shots, while Gaarde and Gardner each had two. Freshman Patty Groh (Mason) posted the win in goal, playing all 90 minutes and making four saves.
Olivet is now idle until next Tuesday, Oct. 4, when it hosts Adrian College at 4 p.m.
