NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. -- The Olivet College women's soccer team posted its third straight shutout with a 3-0 victory over Manchester (Ind.) College today in North Manchester, Indiana. With the shutout, the Comets have not allowed a goal in 303 minutes, 43 seconds.
Olivet got on the scoreboard first in the 14th minute on an unassisted goal by junior Lizzy Julian (Mattawan). The score remained 1-0 at halftime. In the ninth minute of the second half, Julian found the back of the net for her second goal of the game. Senior Katie Koralewski (Sterling Heights/Stevenson) received credit for an assist on the goal. In the 71st minute, sophomore Marnie Hufnagel (Ovid/Ovid-Elsie) scored her first collegiate goal off a pass from senior Ashley Buyce (Portage/Portage Central)
For the game, the Comets had 17 shots, including three apiece for Buyce, Hufnagel and Julian. In goal, seniors Alyssa Budros (Traverse City/Central) and Leanne Scudder (St. Joseph/Lakeshore) combined for the shutout. Budros had three saves in 67 minuntes, while Scudder had two saves in the final 23 minutes.
Olivet (5-1) hosts North Park (Ill.) University Saturday afternoon at noon.
