ALMA, Mich. -- The Olivet College women's soccer team opened Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association play with a 3-0 loss today at Alma College.
The Scots led 2-0 at halftime behind goals by Autumn Root and Alli Meurer in the ninth and 42nd minute, respectively. Alma added a third goal from Elaine Cunningham at the 72:57 mark. For the game, the Scots had a 26-7 advantage in shots. Senior Ashley Buyce (Portage/Central) and juniors Lizzy Julian (Mattawan) and Danielle Mellor (Macomb/Regina) took two shots apiece. Senior goalkeeper Alyssa Budros (Traverse City/Central) played the entire game and collected six saves.
The Comets travel to play Hope College Saturday at noon.
