Women’s soccer team defeats North Park, 3-0
The women’s soccer team ran its unbeaten streak to four games with a 3-0 win over North Park (Ill.) today at the Cutler Athletic Complex in Olivet.
OLIVET, Mich. -- The Olivet College women's soccer team ran its unbeaten streak to four games with a 3-0 win over North Park (Ill.) University today at the Cutler Athletic Complex in Olivet. With the shutout, the Comets have not allowed a goal in 393 minutes, 43 seconds of game time.
Olivet got on the scoreboard six minutes into the game on junior Lizzy Julian's (Mattawan) goal. Seniors Ashley Buyce (Portage/Portage Central) and Katie Koralewski (Sterling Heights/Stevenson) were each given an assist on the goal. Sophomore Marcee Lettinga (Grand Rapids/Forest Hills Central) put the Comets ahead 2-0 with a goal in the 16th minute. Koralewski earned her second assist on the day.
The score stayed 2-0 at halftime. Just 2:31 into the second half, Buyce found the back of the net after receiving a pass from Julian.
Olivet finished the game with a 22-12 advantage in shots. Lettinga led the way with six, followed by Julian and Koralewski with five and four, respectively. Each had two shots-on-goal. Senior Alyssa Budros (Traverse City/Central) played the first 68:26 in goal and made four saves. Senior Leanne Scudder (St. Joseph/Lakeshore) completed the game in goal and stopped two Viking shots.
The Comets will play three games in four days next week, beginning Tuesday when they host Bluffton (Ohio) University at 4 p.m.
