UOlivet sits 10th after day one of NCAA Division III Region V Tournament

UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio – The University of Olivet wrestling team is in 10th-place after the first day of the NCAA Division III Region V Tournament, hosted by John Carroll (Ohio) University.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Comets have totaled 39.5 points, which is one point behind ninth-place Albion College. University of Wisconsin-Whitewater leads the 17-team field with 103 points.
- Three UOlivet wrestlers have secured a top eight finish in their respective weight class. Junior Mason Knight won three matches to remain alive in the 285-pound championship bracket. His wins were a first-period pin and two decision victories (5-0 and 4-2).
- At 165 pounds, junior Juwan Vines and at 197 pounds, senior Gideon Loewen are in the consolation bracket. Vines won his first match, 13-3, before losing 5-3 in the quarterfinals. He bounced back to win his next match, 5-4. Loewen posted a 15-0 technical fall before falling 15-5 in the quarterfinals. He rebounded to win a 19-3 technical fall.
