UOlivet wrestles at Mid-States Invitational

N. MANCHESTER, Ind. – The University of Olivet wrestling team competed at the 2026 Mid-States Invitational, hosted by Alma College.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The field featured 11 NCAA Division III schools from the Midwest – four from Ohio, three from Michigan, three from Indiana and one from Wisconsin.
- The Comets' lineup consisted of reserve wrestlers.
- Four of the 14 UOlivet wrestlers who competed in the tournament placed in the top eight of his weight class.
FOR THE COMETS
- Olivet had three wrestlers finish in the top eight of the 285-pound bracket – sophomore George Daniel in fifth, junior Shane Edwards in sixth and junior Justin Kephart in eighth.
- Daniel posted a 3-2 record. Two of his wins were narrow 1-point decisions and the third was a first-period pin.
- Edwards won his first two matches via fall and lost his next two matches.
- Kephart also split his four matches, winning twice by pin.
- With a 4-2 record, sophomore Julian Terranova placed sixth in the 157-pound bracket. After losing his first match by technical fall, he bounced back to pin three straight opponents in the first period and then won an 8-2 decision.
UP NEXT
- Olivet wrestles at the 2026 NCAA Division III Central Regional Friday and Saturday, February 27-28, at John Carroll University (Ohio). The top three finishers in each of the 10 weight classes will earn a trip to the 2026 NCAA Division III Championships Friday and Saturday, March 13-14, at the Alliant Energy Powerhouse in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
