UOlivet drops two matches at 2026 NWCA National Dual Meet Championships

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – The University of Olivet wrestling team lost two matches today at the 2026 National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Multi-Division National Dual Meet Championships at the UNI Dome. The Comets fell to Central College (Iowa), 39-8, and Baldwin Wallace University (Ohio), 42-9.
VS. CENTRAL
- The Dutch won eight of the 10 bouts, scoring bonus points in seven.
- At 184 pounds, sophomore Jack Ward posted an 11-3 major decision win.
- At 285 pounds, junior Mason Knight coasted to a 15-3 major decision victory.
VS. BALDWIN WALLACE
- The Yellow Jackets dominated the match with seven bonus-point wins.
- Freshman Gabriel Gibbons won the lone match for the Comets, winning 8-6 at 149 pounds. The winning points were a takedown in the second period.
- Senior Darren McLeod lost a 13-10 overtime decision at 157 pounds. A flurry of points in the final 30 seconds sent the match to overtime. McLeod scored a takedown and four-point nearfall with 19 seconds left to go ahead 10-8. His opponent got the escape and riding time point to force overtime.
UP NEXT
- The Comets will wrestle University of Dubuque (Iowa) tomorrow morning at 9 a.m. CT. The winner will face the winner of the Concordia University-Moorhead (Minn.) and Albion College match, and the loser will face the loser of the same match at 11 a.m. CT.
