McLeod chosen MIAA Athlete of the Week for wrestling
HUDSONVILLE, Mich. – Olivet College freshman Darren McLeod has been named the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Athlete of the Week for wrestling.
HUDSONVILLE, Mich. – Olivet College freshman Darren McLeod has been named the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Athlete of the Week for wrestling.
Wrestling at 149 pounds, McLeod won his two matches by matching 18-2 technical fall scores at the Olivet Triangular last Thursday. The first one was in two minutes and 33 seconds over Nico Smith from Henry Ford College, and the second one was in two minutes and 49 seconds over Dominic Delgado from Henry Ford.
For the season, McLeod has a 12-6 record. Of his 12 wins, eight were bonus-point victories. Three of the wins were first period falls.
The Comets, ranked No. 11 in the most recent National Wrestling Coaches Association Top 25 poll, return to the mat Saturday at the Gator 'Boots' Duals in Nashville, Tennessee. Olivet faces No. 10 University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, No. 23 York (Pa.) College and No. 9 Baldwin Wallace (Ohio) University.
