117 Olivet College student-athletes named to MIAA Academic Honor Roll

One hundred seventeen (117) Olivet College student-athletes have been named to the 2018-19 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Academic Honor Roll. Olivet succeeded the 100 plateau for the sixth time in school history.

Seven wrestlers garner NWCA Scholar All-American status

Seven Olivet College wrestlers have earned National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Scholar All-American status. They are sophomore Dylan Briggs, senior Tyler Grimsley, freshman Liam Kinjorski, sophomore Cameron Mahlich, and freshmen Owen Miller, Hunter Murphy and Reese Wallis.

Olivet College junior Haydn Kinjorski and sophomore Trevor Piggott have been eliminated after day one of the 2019 NCAA Division III Wrestling Championships at the Berglund Center in Roanoke, Virginia. Each wrestler had a 1-2 record.

Brissette named NWCA Central Region Coach of the Year

Olivet College head wrestling coach Brandon Brissette has been named the 2019 National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Central Region Coach of the Year. This award was selected by his peers in the region and presented tonight prior to the start of the 2019 NCAA Division III Central Regional at Wabash (Ind.) College in Crawfordsville, Indiana.

Highlighting this group is senior Tyler Grimsley who was named the MIAA’s Most Valuable Wrestler. The other honorees are freshman Reese Wallis, juniors Cole Hersch and Haydn Kinjorski, and senior Jacob Harvey.

Grimsley’s pin pushes wrestling team over Alma, 19-18

Senior Tyler Grimsley’s pin at 165 pounds was the difference in the match, as the Olivet College wrestling team edged Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) rival Alma College, 19-18, tonight at Art Smith Arena in Alma. With the win, the Comets clinch a share of the 2019 MIAA title and can win the outright title with a win at Adrian College on Jan. 31.

Olivet College wrestling team helps raise $1,410 for Out of the Darkness

At its benefit dual match last Thursday, the Olivet College wrestling program helped raise $1,410 for the Out of the Darkness organization. Olivet College assistant head coach Adam Wilson worked with the Inter-Society Council to help bring the Greek students to the match as well assist in the fundraising effort.
