Wrestling team places 11th at Pete Willson Invitational
The Olivet College wrestling team finished in 11th-place at the 2018 Wheaton (Ill.) College Pete Willson Invitational, held at the King Arena in Wheaton, Illinois.
WHEATON, Ill. – The Olivet College wrestling team finished in 11th-place at the 2018 Wheaton (Ill.) College Pete Willson Invitational, held at the King Arena in Wheaton, Illinois.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Thirty-five NCAA Division III schools comprised the tournament field.
- Messiah (Pa.) College crowned three individual winners and had two runner-up finishers to win the tournament title with 137 points.
- The Comets had 50 points.
- At 174 pounds, sophomore Haydn Kinjorski finished in fourth-place. This morning, he dropped a 9-2 decision to top-seed Ben Swarr from Messiah in the semifinals. He bounced back to beat Justin Ransom from Baldwin Wallace, 8-6, before getting pinned by Clayton Davidson in the third-place match.
- At 165 pounds, junior Tyler Grimsley placed fifth. He lost his semifinal match, 8-0, to Jeff Hojjacki from Messiah before suffering a 13-8 loss to Kahlan Lee-Lermer from University of Chicago. He rebounded to pick-up a medical forfeit victory in the fifth-place match.
- At 285 pounds, freshman Jalen McFerrin-Pace placed eighth.
