Olivet College’s Bidlingmailer finishes in fourth-place at NCAA DIII National Championships
Olivet College senior Robbie Bidlingmaier finished in fourth-place in the 125-pound bracket at the 2014 NCAA Division III National Championships inside the U.S. Cellular Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – Olivet College senior Robbie Bidlingmaier (Chesterfield Twp./Anchor Bay) finished in fourth-place in the 125-pound bracket at the 2014 NCAA Division III National Championships inside the U.S. Cellular Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. His performance helped the Comets finish in 20th-place in the team standings with 19 points.
As the No. 6 seed, Bidlingmaier won two matches this morning to advance to the third-place match, which he was pinned by No. 5 seed Jesse Gunter from Baldwin Wallace (Ohio) University. Bidlingmaier won a 13-0 major decision over Sean Ambrocio from Augsburg (Minn.) College before pinning Matthew Ellis from Brockport State (N.Y.) in the first period of the consolation bracket semifinal.
Bidlingmaier is the 23rd wrestler to be an All-American in school history. His fourth-place finish is the highest Olivet finisher since 2009 when Jason Brew placed second.
