Olivet College wrestling team stays at No. 4 in NWCA poll
The Olivet College wrestling team has stays at No. 4 in the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) poll, which was released Jan. 28.
OLIVET, Mich. – The Olivet College wrestling team is No. 4 in the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) poll, which was released Feb. 11 The Comets entered the season unranked, moved into the poll for the first time at No. 13, dropped one spot to No. 14, surged to No. 7 before slipping to No. 9 and now being the No. 4 ranked team for the last two polls.
Three wrestlers are ranked in the individual poll. Senior Justin Holm (Battle Creek/Harper Creek) is the highest ranked Comet at No. 3 at 141 pounds. Seniors Gage Pederson (Hastings) and Jeff Holm (Battle Creek/Harper Creek) are No. 7 at 149 and 184 pounds, respectively. Junior Nick Allen (Scotville/Mason County Central) is No. 10 at 174 pounds.
In addition, Olivet is No. 7, according to the d3wrestle.com poll, which was released Feb. 4. Three wrestlers are included in the Top 10 of the individual d3wrestle.com rankings. Pederson is the highest at No. 6, followed by both the Holm twins at No. 4.
The Comets have a 15-5 dual match record and return to the mat Friday afternoon with a noon match at Michigan State University.
