LA CROSSE, Wis. -- Olivet College junior James Myers (Indian Creek, Ohio/Monroe) finished in sixth-place at the 2012 NCAA Division III National Wrestling Championships. With the finish, he earned All-American honors for a second straight season, equaling his finish in 2011.
In the fifth-place match, Myers lost a 5-3 overtime decision to Joey Favia from Stevens Institute of Technology (N.J.). Myers scored the first two points of the match on a reversal in the second period. Favia tied the match on a pair of escapes, one in the second stanza and one in the third period. After there was no score in the first overtime period, both wrestlers were able to get out in the sudden victory periods to tie the match at 3-3. Favia won the match with a takedown in the fourth overtime period.
In this morning's first match, Myers defeated No. 3 seed Nicholas Sanko from Ithaca (N.Y.) College.
