Wrestling team wins championship at North Central Invitational
The Olivet College wrestling team had four individual champions, and the Comets won the team championship at the 48th Annual North Central (Ill.) Invitational today at the Merner Field House in Naperville, Ill. Olivet, No. 13 in the latest National Wrestling Coaches Association poll, to beat second-place and No. 9 Concordia-Moorhead (Minn.) by 28.5 points, 189-160.5. Wabash (Ind.) was third with 123 points.

College Invitational today at the Merner Field House in Naperville, Ill. College was third with 123 points.
Winning titles were sophomore Robbie Bidlingmaier (Chesterfield Twp./Anchor Bay) at 125 pounds, senior Steven Mena (Martin) at 157 pounds, senior Trevor Tyler (Roscommon) at 174 pounds and junior Logan Renas (Big Rapids) at 285 pounds.
Sophomore Gage Pederson (Hastings) at 149 pounds and senior Justin Leonard (Webberville) at 197 pounds lost in the championship match at their respective weight class. Also placing was junior Josh Crawford (Birch Run) in third-place at 184 pounds, junior Kenny Richmond (Brighton) in fourth-place at 141 pounds and sophomore Rocky Cantu (Rives Junction/Jackson Northwest) in sixth-place at 165 pounds.
Olivet will train next week and then compete next Sunday, Dec. 18 at the Desert Duals in Las Vegas. While there, the Comets will wrestle No. 1 Wartburg (Iowa), No. 3 Coe (Iowa) and Concordia-Moorhead.
