The wrestling team defeated Mt. St. Joseph, 34-10, tonight inside the Harrington Center in Cincinnati, Ohio.
CINCINNATI, Ohio -- The Olivet College wrestling team defeated College of Mt. St. Joseph, 34-10, tonight inside the Harrington Center in Cincinnati, Ohio.
The Comets, ranked No. 8 in the NWCA Top 30 poll, scored team bonus points in the six of seven bouts they won – one each by forfeit and technical fall, and two each by pin and major decision.
Junior Justin Fleeson (Belleville) started the match with a 11-1 major decision victory at 125 pounds. Freshman Robbie Bidlingmaier (Chesterfield Twp./Anchor Bay) earned the forfeit victory at 133 pounds.
Senior Vince Tucker (Clio) followed with a 16-4 major decision win at 141 pounds. After the Lions won the next two matches, Olivet got a first period pin from senior Justin Jaynes (Richmond) at 165 pounds. Junior Trevor Tyler (Roscommon) posted a 15-0 technical fall win at 174 pounds.
The Comets then lost a tough overtime bout at 184 pounds. Junior Justin Leonard (Webberville) answered with another first period pin in the 197 pound weight class. Sophomore Logan Renas (Big Rapids) closed the match with a 3-1 win at 285 pounds.
Olivet is back in action Saturday morning at the Michigan State Duals. Action starts from the Jenison Field House starts at 11 a.m.
