Senior Jason Brew (Sparta) has earned All-American honors with a second-place finish at the 2009 NCAA Division III National Championships, which was held at the U.S. Cellular Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Brew fell to No. 1 seed Aaron Wernimont of Wartburg (Iowa) College, 2-1, in the 157-pound national championship match. Brew advanced to the finals with a 6-2 win over Jason Adams of Augsburg (Minn.) in the semifinals, 7-2 win over Craig Gin of Messiah (Pa.) in the quarterfinals and 9-3 win over Jonas Flok of Lakeland (Wisc.) in the first round.
Olivet's Kyle Vanderhyde (Sparta) also competed at the national championships in the 174-pound weight class. He posted a 14-4 major decision Andrew Scavuzzo of Baldwin-Wallace (Ohio) in the first round and then lost to No. 6 seed Zach Molitor of Augsburg (Minn.) in the quarterfinals. Vanderhyde was eliminated from the tournament with an 11-2 loss to Brian Thomason of York (Pa.) in the consolation bracket.
