Wrestling team finishes in second-place at Mid-States Conference Tournament
The Olivet College wrestling team finished in second-place today at the 2007 Mid-States Conference Tournament, which was hosted by Tri-State (Ind.) University. With a lineup of only eight wrestlers, the Comets collected 130 points.

Senior 157-pounder Ken Andrews (Swartz Creek), freshman 174-pounder Ben Temple (Perry) and junior 184-pounder Daron Cruickshank (Inkster/John Glenn) were crowned conference champions. Sophomore Kyle Labrecque (Battle Creek/Lakeview) was the runner-up at 125 pounds. Freshman Joe Yurisich (Battle Creek/Harper Creek) placed third at 197 pounds.
Olivet had a pair of fourth-place finishers in freshman Blake Gardner (Mount Morris) at 133 pounds and junior Nick Wolf (Olivet) at 149 pounds. Junior heavyweight Sean Misko (Richmond) placed fifth.
At the conclusion of the tournament, there were special awards presented. Misko was named the Freshman of the Year for his season-long effort. Sophomore Kyle Vanderhyde (Sparta) was named to the All-Academic team.
The Comets are back in action next Saturday, Feb. 17, when they participate in the 2007 NCAA Division III Midwest Regional meet at Manchester (Ind.) College. Olivet was the 2006 regional champions.
