Wrestling team finishes in eighth-place at NWCA National Duals
The Olivet College wrestling team fell to Coe (Iowa) College, 33-10, this morning to finish in eighth-place at the 2007 National Wrestling Coaches Association/Cliff Keen National Duals.
The Olivet College wrestling team fell to Coe (Iowa) College, 33-10, this morning to finish in eighth-place at the 2007 National Wrestling Coaches Association/Cliff Keen National Duals. The University of Northern Iowa hosted the two-day event.
The Comets, who were the No. 13 seed, advanced to this morning’s seventh-place match with a 2-2 record yesterday. Olivet beat against No. 3 seed Heidelberg (Ohio) College and No. 11 seed North Central (Ill.) College.
Against Coe, sophomore 165-pounder Jason Brew (Sparta), sophomore 174-pounder Kyle Vanderhyde (Sparta) and freshman heavyweight Sean Misko (Richmond) won their bouts. Brew defeated his opponent, 8-4, Vanderhyde won 8-1 and Misko picked-up an 8-6 victory.
Vanderhyde ended his trip to the National Duals with a perfect 5-0 record and was named the Division III Most Outstanding Wrestler. Brew was 4-1, while Misko was 3-1.
Olivet next competes Thursday, Jan. 18, against the Grand Valley State University club team. The match will be held at Forest Hills Central High School in Grand Rapids.
