The 16-team field consisted of nine NCAA Division III schools, six NCAA Division II schools and one NAIA school. The Fighting Comets, who debuted at #18 this week in the Brute/adidas National Wrestling Coaches Association poll, were fourth among NCAA Division III teams.
NCAA Division II foe Ashland University was first overall with 208 points and crowned five individual champions. Thiel (Pa.) College was the highest finishing NCAA Division III team with 66 points.
Olivet tallied 53 points. Junior 184-pounder Ryan Newberry (South Haven) was third for the Comets. Junior 133-pounder Kefentse Mandisa (Westland/John Glenn) and junior Mike Andrews (Swartz Creek) were sixth. Senior Todd Miller (Casnovia/Kent City) placed eighth at 174 pounds.
The Comets are idle until after their holiday break. They will travel to compete at the Muskingum (Ohio) College Invitational on Jan. 8.
