Wrestling team has four champs at Muskingum (Ohio) College Invitational
The wrestling team competed today at the Muskingum (Ohio) College Invitational in New Concord, Ohio. The tournament was an unscored round-robin format with six schools competing.

The Fighting Comets crowned four individual champions, which was the most for one school. Finishing in first were junior 125-pounder Jerry Samson (Portland), junior 165-pounder Mike Andrews (Swartz Creek), junior 184-pounder Ryan Newberry (South Haven) and senior 197-pounder Ahmad Zeaiter (Kalamazoo/Portage Northern).
Samson picked-up one win at 125 pounds, and then won three other matches (6-0, 4-3 and default) against opponents at 133 pounds. Andrews had a 4-0 record with three wins by decision (4-0, 7-5, and 9-5) and the other by pin in 2:59. Newberry was 2-0 with 3-1 and 3-1 victories. Zeaiter finished the day with a 4-0 mark (11-2, 8-2, 2-0 and default).
Junior 133-pounder Kefentse Mandisa (Westland/John Glenn), junior 141-pounder Shawn Parker (Inkster/John Glenn) and junior 149-pounder Tyler Goodnight (Midland/Bullock Creek) all finished in second-place at their respective weight class.
Olivet will compete at the North Central (Ill.) College Invitational next Friday and Saturday, Jan. 14-15. Action begins at 4 p.m. on Friday, and 10 a.m. on Saturday. Both times are EST.
